Celebrating Our Love Story + A Promptly Journals Giveaway!

I just adore September - it’s the month where everything starts to transition to cooler fall weather with warm days and cool nights, leaves start to fall, and all of the pumpkin spice flavors make their debut. It’s also the month that my husband and I get to celebrate several milestones and anniversaries in our relationship!
My husband took me on our first date on September 10, 2015 to a cozy little restaurant in downtown Lancaster - Himalayan Curry & Grill - and we’ve been getting the same meal on the same date ever since. I’ve never been one for celebrating every little anniversary or special date in some big and meaningful way, but something about eating that same meal on the same day every year feels so personal and special to me. Our first date was a big step for the both of us and we pretty much knew that we were going to end up in marriage if we decided to date, so that first dinner date was a beautiful beginning to our love story!

I’m not sure if every year will end up working out to have our favorite meal together on that exact date and it definitely has not looked the same every year - some years we get dressed up and visit the restaurant, some years we have gotten takeout and enjoyed the meal at a local park, or eating at home on our couch or with the kids.
Not only do we get to celebrate our first date in September, but we also get to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at the end of the month on September 30! We don’t have as much tradition around celebrating our anniversary, but I do make sure to rewatch our wedding video every year. I love listening to our vows, hearing the songs we chose, and seeing the faces of so many family and friends who were there to support us. Some years we just sat and watched the ceremony while enjoying cheese and wine, and other years we have made short trips out of town.
This year, to celebrate our Love Story and our 6th Wedding Anniversary, I’m finally getting around to making some updates and entries in our Love Story journal that I got from Promptly Journals for our first wedding anniversary - I printed off some photos and will be adding those there and logging some memories about each of our anniversaries and years that we have been married so far in that journal. It’s so fun to look back on little things that may have seemed trivial at the time and see what has stayed constant in our marriage and what things have changed over the years!
